This hike is one of the most beautiful on the island. It features one of the best views of Roque de las Animas — in my opinion, the most breathtaking spot in all of Tenerife!
The loop is very accessible and not too long — perfect for enjoying the nearby beaches of Almaciga and Benijo afterward.

Duration: 3 hours
Loop: Yes
Difficulty: 2/5
Distance: 5 km

Step 1: Parking
There aren’t many spots available.
Still, it’s worth a try! There’s a small lot at the Mirador (location available on Google Maps) at the start of the trail. Otherwise, you can park along the guardrail on the road leading to the parking area.
Alternatively, head down to Almaciga and walk back, or eat at one of the 2–3 restaurants in Benijo — they often let you park if you dine there.
Step 2: Hike to El Draguillo
Take the trail in the direction of El Draguillo. Nothing particularly difficult here — it’s an easy, pleasant walk.
Step 3: The Climb
At El Draguillo, follow the route on Maps.me or use the signs to climb out of the village.
The ascent is fairly steep as you gain elevation quickly, but it’s not too long.
Step 4: Descent to Benijo
Once you reach the crossroads, begin the descent to Benijo — it’s absolutely beautiful.

After the hike, we headed to the nearby village of Almaciga to swim at playa de Benijo and grab lunch at Restaurante La Ola — which we highly recommend!
